Open World Academy
Training for fuller participation in life.
A curriculum for the creative, relational and perceptual arts. People return, train and widen their range, the way they would in a martial art.
The curriculum
The Orbits
Orbits are looping tracks of experience. You pass through them more than once, and each pass shows you something the last one could not.
01
Becoming
Openness, perception and the ability to move beyond habitual identity.
02
Beholding
Embodiment, sensory awareness and relationship with space.
03
Bemusing
State, aesthetics, story and the realities people create together.
04
Quest
Self-directed encounters with the world through intentional action.
05
Belonging
Devotion, collective participation and leadership.
Advancement recognises growing perception, agency, discernment, range and responsibility. It does not measure obedience or how much content someone has consumed. The detailed lenses and progression are kept in the training hub at Open World Theatre.
How people train
Three ways to go deeper.
Workshops
Single sessions of a few hours that introduce one area of practice.
Intensives
Longer formats such as the Cycle of Aliveness, where a group has time to travel somewhere together.
Sustained practice
Cohorts and courses that follow the Orbits over months, with quests to undertake between sessions.
Facilitators
The practice matures before the certification does.
Completing the curriculum does not by itself qualify someone to lead this work. Holding a room when something real enters it takes more than knowing the exercises. A facilitator pathway will be designed when enough experienced practitioners are ready for it.
Facilitator training is a future pathway. Open World does not currently offer a facilitator certification.
