Research Question
Can perceiving possibility become a rigorous practice?
The proposed doctoral question: whether noticing latent possibilities, and studying how they become real, can be done with discipline.
Context
The question in full: can we develop a rigorous practice for perceiving latent possibilities in human situations, studying the conditions under which they cross into lived actuality, and mapping the forms and consequences of the realities that emerge?
This is the intended starting point for doctoral research into human eclosion. The doctorate is treated as a stage in a continuing programme rather than its endpoint.
What an answer would need
- A shared way of recording a possibility before anyone knows whether it will happen.
- Accounts of what did and did not emerge, including the cases where nothing crossed.
- A way to trace consequences afterwards without confusing inferred links with observed ones.
- Other researchers able to challenge the vocabulary and the method.
Evidence and limitations
- No doctoral enrolment or institutional affiliation is claimed here. This is a research direction.
- The question remains open by design: the method must be able to fail.
